About Shari Botwin

Shari Botwin, LCSW, is a licensed therapist who specializes in treating trauma, abuse, eating disorders, anxiety and depression. She holds a Master's Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University. For more than twenty six years she has owned a private practice for psychotherapy in Cherry Hill, NJ. Her second book, THRIVING AFTER TRAUMA: STORIES OF LIVING AND HEALING (Rowan & Littlefield) released worldwide November of 2019. Her third book, “ Stolen Childhoods,” will be out early 2024. Botwin is a certified trauma expert in the court of law and has served as an expert witness. She conducts workshops around the country and most recently did a Keynote Presentation for Monte Nido on the role of an eating disorder in staying stuck in abuse. She has been featured in Prevention magazine, The New York Times, Sports Illustrated and Greatist. Shari has also given expert commentary on COVID on NBC Nightly, MSNBC, CTV, Stay Tuned, Quibi and NBC Philadelphia. Moments after the Cosby verdict and sentencing came in Shari gave commentary on ABC, CBS, CTV, CP24 and several other national media outlets. In March of 2018 Shari was quoted in the Daily Beast, and published a feature op-ed for the Philadelphia Inquirer on the Cosby pretrial hearings. She also appeared on ABC Philadelphia the day the kids went back to Marjorie Stoneman after the tragic school shooting. Shari was recently quoted as an expert in an Associated Press article about the re-traumatization of survivors of sexual abuse after hearing about the Harvey Weinstein case among many others. This story was syndicated to the New York Times, The Washington Post, The Chicago Tribune, ABC National Newswire, The LA Times, The Toronto Star and 250 other media outlets. The day before Time Magazine named the Silence Breakers as People of the Year, Shari published a feature called,"The Incredible Story of Shari Botwin and the Cosby Women," in the Huffington Post and Thrive Global, Inc. She is a well respected expert on sexual abuse and survivorship with a strong in the mainstream media.
