About Shari Rowe

I have been working as a social worker for 28 years now. I started out in a public agency doing individual and couples counseling with the general population. I then started to focus more on the mentally ill, continuing individual and group therapy. I accepted a job on an ACT team and took a side job as a Crisis Worker in a hospital. For 6 years, I worked solely in the hospital setting both as a Crisis Worker in the ER and as a therapist on the mental health unit. I worked as the sole social worker in a geriatric psychiatric hospital and part time as a crisis worker in another hospital. One of the challenges that I recently took on that I am quite proud of is developing an extensive outpatient provider portfolio, identifying nursing homes and outpatient care providers in the Cincinnati area to assist patients in discharge planning. I have identified nursing facilities that provide assisted living, independent living, and skilled nursing services as well as those specializing in problems with dementia and behaviors. I have also established lists of those that are providers for Medicare and Medicaid. This has improved the quality of our discharge process tremendously. For the past 7 years I have been working as a mental health specialist in a medical outpatient setting. I have received advanced training in EMDR and CBT.
