About Sharin Khondker

I have now accumulated 15 years of experience in the catering industry. I wanted introduce my love for food by going back to the roots. Since my childhood I have had the privilege of living almost all over the world, i n Sierra Leone, Uganda, Nigeria, Miami, New York and Switzerland - with this I was introduced to so many different types of cuisine: Matoke ( an Ugandan staple), Jalof, Placas, okra soup and on and on in Nigeria and Sierra Leone, Cuban, Jamaican, Puerto Rican & Brazilian food in Miami and then my years in New York where you are in a culinary adventure around the world. All these dishes had one thing in common, authenticity and a feeling of simply being home. Here at Falaque I wanted to recreate the same thing, the feeling of coming home for dinner. I wanted to go back to my roots, in this day of industry one can of course buy every spice pre ground, pre made sauces, pre cooked this and that. Not at Falaque. I Buy all my spices whole grain and then they are roasted & blended, I use fresh garlic and ginger. My team & I make our own yoghurt & crispy fried onions ( gluten free of course), ask to smell my special garam masala. All our food is marinated & slow cooked so all the flavours are infused to an aromatic delight. I change my menu everyday, so you can come and have a taste of home. We are also a friendly bunch, from my Manager Luiza to my chef Amina & Mario, they are always there to wave with a smile. I take great pride in bringing you our fresh produce and authentic spice. We have windows looking into our kitchen and you are always welcome to take a tour. I cook traditional Bangladeshi cuisine, filled with rich aromatic spices. I keep the desserts western, because nothing beats a good old Carrot cake or Chocolate brownie.
