Whether on stage, behind the scenes, or in an office, success is the result of planning, accountability, and attention to details. Cultivating environments that are well organized, empowering and conducive of excellent work. Understanding the importance of achieving goals set by leadership and taking every opportunity to educate myself on all aspects of our team. Ultimately, my goal is to allow the visionaries of our company to have confidence in my ability to build strategies, solve problems, work with other departments and team members, and develop processes, systems, and key performance metrics to meet expectations. The pandemic happened to everyone, including those working at the CDC, but those employees had to shelter in place, while remaining vigilant and ready to respond to one of the nation’s biggest threats. To meet this challenge, I created and maintained an online filing and reporting system that was accessible, organized, and user friendly then taught everyone in the branch until using the online system became second-nature. I also paid attention to the branch’s morale to guard against loneliness and burnout. This meant sending daily uplifting emails, planning and hosting virtual team building activities, and enlisting vendors to give trainings to boost the branch’s culture and technical expertise, resulting in a staff with higher employee satisfaction and readiness. The production manager’s responsibility is to make sure the life cycle of a performance runs smooth. Without thorough attention and guidance, a show’s schedule and budget can quickly run over. To make sure CORE Dance’s productions stayed on time, I programmed project management software to send staff and contractors daily task notifications. To keep productions under budget, I downsized and remodeled the costume and equipment closets, allowing key items to be at everyone’s fingertips, ultimately cutting costs and stress. Directors and choreographers need to focus on cultivating the next generation of performers, so they hired me to manage their performances. Keeping a show fun and safe for adults and children can be a challenge, but I was able to relay detailed, pertinent, and timely information so even a 3-year-old can go in front of an audience and do their best. Set and wardrobe malfunctions got rectified quickly, instructions got relayed clearly with encouragement, and cues were on-time.
