I joined Yorkshire Ambulance Service (formerly WYMAS) in 2004 and undertaken the roles of EMD and Dispatcher. In my time working for YAS in my role as a Dispatcher I supervise crews and responders on a daily basis, I do this by allocating them to emergency and non-emergency calls using 2 way data and making sure they receive the relevant information they require to attend an address. Supervising new starters, I have passed on the invaluable knowledge that I have obtained throughout my time in EOC. I have been involved in training them and thus supporting them, making sure they understand and follow the trusts policies and procedures and also overseeing there development over the time they spend with me. I have experience of managing operational services and achieving performance targets. I respond to every call I receive, and with the emergency calls I deal with I will always allocate the nearest resource using quickres, then I would look more closely at the job and review the resource I have allocated and if it appears there is a nearer, appropriate resource then I would then revise my original decision. By doing with every call I receive I feel confident that I have done the best I possibly can for the patient. One of the approaches I do to manage my workload is I utilise resources adequately. I understand this is my responsibility keep up to date with and that they give me the tools to do my job well. I have the ability to prioritise tasks and manage conflicting demands on a daily basis. I am able to initiate problem solving strategies when appropriate to ensure the effective day to day delivery of service. I get monthly report about my performance stats and they are always good.
