I am a qualified registered general nurse since 2005. I completed a Higher Diploma course in Midwifery in the Coombe Women and Infants University Hospital incorporated with Trinity College, Dublin in April 2012 and I have recently undertaken a post graduate certificate and post graduate diploma course in Infection, Prevention and Control in the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI) and I was awarded First Class Honours 1.1. I am currently working full time as a senior nurse with VHI hospital@home. I previously had the role of ACNM and Community Staff Nurse within this company. I participated in the covid 19 vaccination role out from January 2021 when staff of VHI hospital@home were recruited initially to vaccinate residents in nursing homes. This expanded to vaccinating HSE staff and participating in the vaccination program in Citywest convention centre. I have resumed part time work within the acute hospital setting via a nursing agency following the lifting of Covid 19 restrictions this year. Prior to working with vhi hospital@home I worked as a registered general nurse in a variety of health care organisations, in a variety of areas, including medical, surgical, A&E, CCU, ICU, theatre recovery, colposcopy and community nursing. I now wish to progress in my career by working as an Infection Prevention and Control Nurse following completion of the post graduate diploma course. I believe the skills and knowledge I have gained over the duration of my career to date are of great benefit to my current colleagues, future colleagues and patients. I am a reliable and motivated person. I learn fast and have excellent communication skills. I am punctual and can meet deadlines. I am hard working and I am an ambitious person. I am always looking for opportunities to increase my knowledge and skills. I have been working on increasing my knowledge within the area of Infection Prevention and Control by using the Competency Framework for Infection Prevention and Control Practitioners in Ireland. I have completed a number of online courses related to Infection Prevention and Control as outlined below. I intend to pursue further education within the field of Infection, Prevention and Control by completing the Masters.
