Direct the Spiritual Care Department of Salem Hospital to deliver evidence-based, expert spiritual care to patients and their loved ones, including spiritual assessment, interventions, and monitoring of outcomes. • Provide for, supervise and evaluate the clinical services and religious programs within the Department of Spiritual Care, as fully integrated members of the interdisciplinary care team and to serve as an expert consultant for staff chaplains and CPE students, taking an active role in improving spiritual care delivery, adherent to best practices in the field. • Supervise and evaluate the functioning of chaplains to ensure quality spiritual care/services and to develop, assess, and maintain policies and procedures. • As an affiliate of the Palliative Care Service, participate actively and then document family meetings, goals of care discussions, and serious illness conversations. • Act as the EPIC expert within the Spiritual Care Department including best practices, training, process improvement, report creation/modification/use. • Generate regular reports related to Spiritual Care Department functioning, reporting history and trends. • Provide education, training, and management of EPIC medical record system for use by chaplains in Spiritual Care Department and in collaboration with peer departments across the enterprise. • Provide educational opportunities for the department. • Supervise a variety of religious services and programs for patients/residents and employees to provide for the spiritual needs and traditions of persons at the hospital. • Strategize and direct spiritual volunteer activities, including Eucharistic Ministers, Reiki Volunteers, and of course interfacing with Volunteer Services. • Liaison with local community clergy by representing Salem Hospital on the local Clergy and Ministerial Association. • Understand and adhere to Salem Hospital's compliance standards as they appear in Corporate Compliance Policies, Code of Conduct, and MGB's Policies. • Redesigned the chapel during the COVID-19 pandemic to accommodate staff needs. • Implement and maintain weekly egalitarian poetry email for staff who opt in. • Facilitate in-patient and out-patient psych spirituality groups and mentor junior chaplains to do the same.
