About Sharon Evans

I’m all about mixing purpose with creativity, and I believe every moment—even the small ones—deserves a little spark. I have spent over 20 years in the nonprofit world, from arts and culture to homelessness to settlement services. No matter where I am, I’m always looking for ways to make things feel less like “work” and more … relational. I bring my full self to everything I do, particularly my commitment for people to feel truly heard along with a sensitivity towards fairness and social justice. I’ve learned that when we show up with compassion and imagination, we can initiate real change, whether it’s designing a program, running a small non-profit, or simply telling someone, “Yes, you matter; I’m here.” My work is deeply rooted in empathy, influenced by my family history and a belief that, with a little hope and heart — together, we can make the world a better place. Leadership/ Program Development- Masters of Arts in Leadership, with a written thesis that focused on long term event sport volunteering in Alberta - Board President of Calgary Spartans Track Club, a working non-profit board - Launched "All Roads Lead Home" an initiative which brought together groups of volunteers with families moving out of homelessness - Opened Guest Services and Gift Shop at Lougheed House, a National Historic Site - Managed over 400 volunteers per year with Centre for Newcomers - Wardrobe Manager for the Canadian Badlands Passion Play - Secretary for Health and Safety Committee with Abbotsford Community Services Event Planning- Program development and management of "Tools for Mental Wellness" with TIES - Planned and executed 4 annual Volunteer Appreciation events with Centre for Newcomers - Developed an annual outdoor event "A Ride Through Time" with Lougheed House - Part of the planning team for the 25th Anniversary event at Centre for Newcomers Administration- Board President, Calgary Spartans Track and Field Club - Supervision of staff and front reception with Abbotsford Community Services - Yearly reporting requirements for Volunteer Development with Centre for Newcomers - Reporting requirements for "All Roads Lead Home" homeless serving initiative - Final grant reporting requirements for the East Coulee School Museum - Creation and ongoing updates of Volunteer Position Descriptions with Centre for Newcomers - Monthly sales reports and budgeting for the Guest Services and Gift Shop at Lougheed House
