About Sharon Grant

About Me (Sharon Grant) For years as a little girl, my late grandmother, a surgical technician, used to bring me scalpels and other surgical supplies whenever she came to visit me. When my fourth-grade teacher shared with the class that she was pregnant with twins, I thought to myself, “Someone should be prepared in case she goes into labor”. For months after school, I watched hours of birthing videos shown on the TLC channel and gathered what I felt were necessary supplies in the event that day ever came. I then hid those supplies within my cubby at my school so I would be ready. Looking back, I am tickled by my determination and the lengths I took to prepare for that moment but it was a glimpse into the core of who I am. Some of the achievements I am most proud of since earning my B.S. in Management in 2011 include having co-founded an organization without prior business knowledge, deciding to give real estate a try and passing the exam the very first time, and helping a client to close on their home with the same bank that initially denied them a mortgage. I did this by researching the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) Handbook. After hours of research, I was able to find language within FHA's policies that I believed challenged the loan underwriter's denial decision. I then found a creative way to get in contact with an FHA official and asked that they clarify and confirm their policy in writing. Lastly, I sent that letter over to the loan underwriter, clearing the way for my client to close on their new home. If you know anything about John Leonard and the 1996 Pepsi ad case, that is who I am-analytical and driven. For me, “if there’s a will, there’s a way.” Fast forward to today, I’ve learned that what I enjoy most, whether in my personal life or in the workplace, is being able to solve problems. When I’m not working, I enjoy music and dancing, spending time with family and friends, working out, solving a Sudoku, listening to Tedx Talks, tinkering with drills and hammers, or thinking of a million-dollar idea.
