About Sharon Heady-Labansky

With over 18 years of experience in education, I am a passionate and dedicated educator with experience serving students and teachers in kindergarten through sixth grade. I've dedicated my life's work to improve students' reading and writing skills and instructional practices of teachers. I hold a master's degree in reading and certifications in elementary education, special education, and remedial reading and language arts. Currently I am a special education teacher for students in grades k-4. However, while serving as a literacy coach for 11 years prior, I provided side-by-side coaching, feedback, and professional development to teachers, as well as data-driven instruction and intervention to students. I also collaborated with district and school leaders to implement literacy initiatives, curricula, and assessments that align with the state standards and best practices. My mission is to foster a culture of literacy and learning for all students and teachers, and to support their growth and achievement. For five years I focused my career in grades K-2 to ensure the highest quality foundation in early literacy. Watching students learn to read is magic and I love to make an incredibly difficult job feel empowering.
