About Sharon Kay

Accomplished journalist/storyteller/communications expert and educational designer with keen ability to translate complex concepts into engaging content tailored to a variety of audiences. Skilled writer, producer, media trainer, designer, and cross-functional project manager for multiple media platforms including: online curriculum; educational videos; documentaries; consumer health; and communications for NGOs, non-profits, and corporations. Background: My expertise as as a storyteller has evolved from an eclectic combination of an undergraduate degree in Russian Studies, a master’s in journalism, years of working as a documentary filmmaker, a Knight Science Journalism Fellowship at MIT and Harvard, and more years of science and health writing and producing for multiple media platforms before transitioning to higher education. Prior to working for NYU, my clients included NOVA (I co-produced a documentary about Watson, the supercomputer that played Jeopardy), NYU Physician magazine, Consumer Reports Health, Health.com, the International Center for AIDS Care and Treatment Programs at Columbia University, the World Science Festival, WNET/Channel 13, and the New York City Department of Health. I have a long history of producing television for ABC News, Discovery Channel, and for networks in the UK.
