About Sharon Kishner

I was an experienced public interest attorney who dedicated my career to advocating for those who would otherwise would not have a voice. I take pride in the fact that others described me as a hard worker and as someone who worked tirelessly for the rights of others. My legal background, mental health training and volunteer experiences enabled me to work in different settings with children and adults from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. My daughters' Native cultures educated me in the need for individuals to find a spiritual balance and maintain their cultural awareness. My most rewarding work included working as an Attorney Guardian Litem advocating for the best interests of children in court cases where there were allegations of abuse and neglect and in high-conflict divorce cases and as an attorney helping children and adults with a variety of disabilities obtain their right to services. I presented to professionals and consumers at conferences and trainings. I mediated high conflict custody cases as a volunteer mediator and provided professional supervision services to ensure vulnerable individuals had a safe place to visit with parents/relatives. While I retired from a formal "job" in 2022, I now work in a variety of volunteer capacities. As an Ambassador for the Davis Phinney Foundation, I support persons with Parkinson’s Disease like me, their families and care partners. I am on the Advisory Council for the Brian Grant Foundation and I volunteer for the Parkinson’s Resource Organization.
