About Sharon Pickup

I have a vast experience of empowerment work both in a professional and personal capacity, within the Hospitality and care and support sectors. I support, mentor and guide individuals with significant lived experiences. I have built an employment pathway using my own personal and professional experiences to enable and empower those leaving support towards their goals. I am currently designing and helping shape a new inclusive work culture within The Wise Group and also act as an ambassador where I help shape, promote and communicate our values and behaviours. In my spare time I teach Jujitsu and am working towards running my own club. I volunteer at Essential Learning Curve where I act as a Diversity and Empowerment lead. I also teach fitness classes at various gyms across Teesside. I have had a colourful life and from it have created and achieved some amazing outcomes both personally and professionally and have organised and facilitated various projects and events, such as;* Charity fundraisers for Sue Ryder and Mesothelioma Cancer victims * Created a Community café which I utilised as a training platform to empower individuals to gain skills and confidence as well as supporting them back into employment * Created a Community Allotment in conjunction with MIND to promote healthy cooking, mindfulness and Health and wellbeing * Designed and facilitated a confidence and goal building programme that worked to empowered DWP and Pertemps clients around positive meaningful use of time. These are to name a few! I believe that breaking a negative cycle is imperative in any form of recovery and a shift in perception is key! I have created bespoke pathways that inspire and enable individuals to achieve their highest potential regardless of background or experience. My methods include group sessions and one to one work, creation of platforms and redesigning of work culture. I have encouraged and empowered the most chaotic, hard to reach class of society to take positive charge of their own lives and achieve their highest potential. I am now applying it in a professional capacity in order for employees and volunteers to do the same. I aim to assist individuals through my own experiences to construct personalised journeys that ensure sustainable, positive Independent Living, whilst enabling and empowering them to achieve their highest potential.
