About Sharon Shakur

Ms. Sharon Shakur, MA, Program Director and Artistic Director Originally from Boston, Ms. Shakur has choreographed, performed, and produced dance in venues throughout Los Angeles, New York City, and Boston. Ms. Shakur received her Master of Arts Degree in Dance and Dance Education from California State University, Long Beach. She is a professional level member of the National Dance Education Organization. This year, she began the Academy of Dance and Choreography. The mission of this enterprise is to provide dance education and performance opportunities to dancers of all ages and all levels. She served for four years as the Dance Program Director at West Adams Preparatory High School. Prior to that, she was a Dance Educator in the Arts Education Branch of Los Angeles Unified School District. Last year, Ms. Shakur served as a coordinator and choreographer for the All District Dance Ensemble. She was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation in Dance by the City of Los Angeles. Ms. Shakur is also an accomplished actress who has appeared in numerous film and television projects. She is a member of the acting unions SAG, AFTRA, and AEA. Recently, she performed at the World Famous Comedy Store in Hollywood. She thanks God and her family for their support.
