About Sharon Staples

I worked at National Semiconductor for 13 years, managing various aspects of the delivery of Information Services including, Telecom, Business Machines, Helpdesk/Desktop Support and Training. After a layoff, I decided to switch gears and went back to school for nursing, attending the University of New England's nursing program. I graduated with my ADN in May of 2011 and passed the NCLEX to become a licenced RN. I went on to complete the accelerated BSN program at UNE and graduated in May of of 2012. St. David's South Austin Medical Center hired me to work on their busy telemetry unit, 3 South, which is where I began my nursing career. After a year in Austin, I relocated to North Carolina for a job in the Emergency Department of Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. At this 80 bed ED we treated everything from headaches to gunshot wounds. It was a wonderful place to cut my teeth as an ED nurse. I worked at Wellstar System's newest facility, Paulding Hospital in Hiram, Georgia for 6 years and enjoyed practicing in this state-of-the-art hospital. Then my military son was relocated to Missouri with his family and we followed. Now at Phelps Health ED in Rolla, MO I continue my career in emergency nursing.
