About Shashwati Parihari

I am a cancer proteomics researcher who has recently submitted my Ph.D. thesis at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, conducted under the supervision of Prof. Sanjeeva Srivastava in collaboration with Tata Memorial Hospital. My doctoral work bridges advanced mass spectrometry technologies with translational cancer biology, focusing on unraveling the molecular basis of cisplatin resistance in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Through a multi-omics lens, integrating proteomics, metabolomics, and lipidomics, I have comprehensively profiled cisplatin-resistant TNBC patient tissues and in vitro cell line models to uncover the signaling pathways, metabolic circuits, and membrane remodeling events that drive therapy resistance. My approach combines method innovation (DDA, DIA, PRM workflows, cell surface, and crude membrane enrichment) with high-impact biological insights, revealing surface-accessible therapeutic targets and metabolic vulnerabilities that could inform future treatment strategies in breast cancer. In addition to leading my doctoral research, I have contributed to collaborative projects in colon cancer, meningioma, and COVID-19, adapting proteomics, metabolomics, and lipidomics pipelines across diverse disease contexts. I am proficient in operating high-resolution mass spectrometers, including Bruker timsTOF Pro 2, Thermo Orbitrap Fusion, Q Exactive, and Triple Quadrupole systems, along with UHPLC/nanoLC platforms. These experiences have honed my ability to design robust experimental strategies, perform deep computational analysis (MaxQuant, FragPipe, DIA-NN, Spectronaut, Skyline), and extract clinically meaningful patterns from complex datasets. I am passionate about applying cutting-edge proteomics, including single-cell approaches, to address clinically relevant questions in cancer biology, therapy response, and resistance. As I prepare for my next career stage, I am eager to join dynamic research environments where my expertise in multi-omics and translational biomarker discovery can drive impactful advances in cancer diagnostics and therapeutics.
