About Shaun Bourgeois

My M.A.Sc. project primarily involved researching exoskeleton technology for motion-capture/haptic-feedback and mobility-assistance applications with a focus on manipulator design, kinematic analysis, and passive exoskeleton prototyping. Qualifications: • 3+ years of R&D experience in robotic manipulators for exoskeleton applications • Advanced knowledge in the kinematic analysis of serial and parallel manipulators • 7+ years of experience collaborating with diverse, effective teams during a wide range of engineering student projects at the bachelor's and master's degree levels Master's Project Summary: • Designed a novel 7-degree-of-freedom hybrid-manipulator exoskeleton for the human lower limb • Solved the exoskeleton-limb system's inverse and forward kinematic problems • Developed a SolidWorks CAD model of the system's mechanical structure • Simulated the system's movements using MATLAB • Evaluated the relationship between exoskeleton workspace/singularities and human limb postures • Constructed a motion-capturing prototype exoskeleton primarily using custom, 3D-printed parts • Performed an efficacy-test experiment with comparison to an optical motion-capture reference
