About Shaun Ritson

I am a Chartered Engineer, that has over twenty six years varied technical and management experience in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. My job roles have seen me work with clients in a number of market sectors including commercial fisherman, workboat operators, ferry operators, pleasure craft owners, port operators, shipyards and floating plant operators in mining and heavy industrial sectors. I have been involved in the design process for a wide range of vessels, project types and sizes, including small sports fishing vessels, catamaran ferries and workboats. I am experienced in designing for both new builds and vessel modifications, in aluminium, steel and fibreglass. My experience has seen me produce designs to any stage of completion that a client requires, ranging from preliminary arrangement drawings for tenders, through to complete detail construction packages, including both structural and engineering construction drawings, schematics, and plate nesting’s. I also have experience producing designs for custom deck machinery, including A- frames, tug winches, spreader beams, lifting cradles, and crane base structures. Projects have been designed to Australian Standards, and to various Class Societies including Lloyds, Bureau Veritas, American Bureau of Shipping, Det Norske Veritas, RINA, Korean Register, ISO, NSCV, and USL. My roles in management have seen me develop strong leadership and management skills, being able to contribute to the strategic management of the company(s) including human resource management, financial planning, projected training and resource requirements, marketing. I have a strong background in structural and stability calculations and report preparation, which includes risk assessments and quality management systems. Software- Proficient with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Rhino, Maxsurf suite of programs, MAST.
