About Shauna Richards

I’m currently in my final year of completing a Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Over the past 4 years, I’ve been able to develop my understanding of chronic health conditions and explore the concepts surrounding exercise as medicine. My desire to pursue a future career in the field of Exercise Physiology​ stemmed from my love of sports and medicine combined. Growing up, I discovered my passion for sports and competition through participating in competitive long-distance running and playing hockey for many years. I’ve has always been incredibly interested in the world of medicine and have always tried my best to find different ways to be able to help others, in whatever form that may be. As part of the growing field of Exercise Physiology, I’m excited to continue exploring and developing the best ways to connect and aid in the treatment of many chronic health conditions.I’ve loved working with and learning from clients with neurological conditions, particularly degenerative conditions, such as Parkinson’s, Dementia and Motor Neuron Disease, as well as individuals with Intellectual Disabilities. I'm looking forward to continuing to learn and grow within this area. If you were to ask what my greatest future career goal is, I would say…. It's to bring access to allied health services to regional and remote communities across Australia. Health care isn’t a resource that should only be able to access by individuals living in larger cities! Everyone deserves access to quality and reliable resources to help better their lives, no matter their socio-economic class or location.
