About Shawn Girvan
I started working in communications when I turned 19 and playing "oldies" as a disc jockey for WAVH in Mobile, Alabama. Since then, I have spent time as a record store clerk, waiter, band manager, and film writer-director in Nashville; a bartender, improviser, performer, stand-up comedian, and documentary producer in Chicago; and finally, I moved to Virginia to become a photography producer, wedding videographer, creative writer, teacher, nonprofit program assistant, program manager, program director, and associate executive director. Along the way, I managed to complete improv and sketch training at The Second City and The IO Theatre and earn my BA, MFA, and MS at the fine learning institutions of Southern New Hampshire University, Goddard College, and The Newhouse School at Syracuse University. I look forward to my next adventure.
