About Shawn Schmidt

With over 30 years of expertise in Visual Display and Merchandising, Shawn Schmidt is known for creating stunning, award-winning window displays that captivate audiences and elevate brands. A graduate of Sheridan College’s Visual Merchandising Arts program, Shawn served as National Director of Visual Display at Le Château Inc, where he developed elaborate storytelling environments using one-of-a-kind, custom-designed props and a meticulous eye for detail. In addition to his visual display career, Shawn is an accomplished fashion stylist. His styling work includes photo shoots for TOM Toronto Men’s Fashion Week*, runway shows in Toronto and Montreal, wardrobe styling for film and television, and red carpet celebrity styling for Toronto Fashion Week and the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). As a recognized PR media spokesperson and brand ambassador, Shawn has appeared on CTV’s e-Talk, Global TV’s The Morning Show, and Proud FM 103.9. His work and industry insights have been featured in publications including The Toronto Star, The Globe and Mail, and leading trade titles such as Style Guide, Store Windows That Sell, and VMSD magazine. Today, Shawn is a full-time Program Coordinator and Professor in the Visual Merchandising Arts Program at Seneca Polytechnic, where he brings his real-world expertise directly into the classroom. He also teaches in the Fashion Business Program inspiring the next generation of creative professionals. Shawn’s design philosophy is bold and unapologetic — always pushing boundaries and asking the question: “Is there such a thing… as too much?”
