In Australia, we have an amazing, high quality healthcare system, dedicated to helping all Australians live healthier lives. That healthcare system relies on the dedication and skill of the medical and support staff. But they couldn’t do their jobs without the right specialist equipment and supplies – and that’s where I come in. I run two companies - Hospital Products Australia provides specialist medical equipment, and Wamee supplies the IT systems for healthcare facilities. Our staff – most with medical backgrounds – create complete solutions from a range of world-leading equipment, advise on best usage, and fully support everything we supply, to ensure it’s always working and able to do its job. The medical teams we support deal with just us, not multiple suppliers, giving them more time to focus on healthcare. My goal is to support our healthcare professionals to enhance and save lives. My inspiration came from a visit to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, where I witnessed an operation on a minutes-old baby with a hole in the heart. I saw 14 people – the cardiologist, anaesthetist, nurses and support team – work together to save that young life. They each had their own job to do, and their specialist equipment, but all had the same, single-minded goal. I saw the magic of the heroes who care for life, and try to preserve life. I realised that I had a role to play, despite not being a doctor or nurse. I could be ‘part of the 14’ by supporting these professionals - making their jobs easier, and their outcomes better by providing the equipment they needed to do their jobs. I believe wholeheartedly that technology can deliver better patient outcomes and have a passion for improving the way that humans interact with technology in the healthcare setting. My team collaborates with doctors, nurses, anaesthetists, technicians and administrators to provide day hospital solutions, ICT and carts, infrastructure, UV Angel, surgical products, patient monitoring and life support. We supply, finance, support and maintain, so that our medical heroes have reliable, safe equipment to help them provide healthcare to all Australians.
