About Shawn Williamson

Shawn serves as the Clinical Director of the Counseling and Education Center (CEC) in Grand Junction, CO, where he provides supervision and leadership to a diverse therapy team. This team includes 14 licensed and pre-licensed professionals, along with 2 to 8 interns. Shawn is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), holding an ABD (All But Dissertation) status from a doctoral program in Clinical Psychology. In his private practice, he also supervises 8 independent contractors. Shawn's extensive clinical experience spans various settings, including managing a men's residential substance abuse unit, as well as working within non-profit organizations, private practices, community mental health centers, and a county government-operated counseling center. He offers therapy to teens, adults, and couples, addressing a broad spectrum of concerns such as substance abuse, crisis intervention, homelessness, forensic issues, chronic mental illness, trauma, family counseling, domestic violence, anxiety, and depression. His experience encompasses working with adults, adolescents, senior citizens, and families. Therapeutic Approach - Shawn employs an integrative therapeutic approach, primarily utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). He is a strong proponent of a client-centered approach, tailoring interventions to individual needs. Additionally, Shawn is trained in hypnotherapy by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis and is certified in the NADA five-point ear acupuncture technique (Acudetox). He holds a free Acudetox clinic weekly at CEC.
