Background
About Shay Hadley
I am excited about creating accessible and gender expansive workplaces, schools and non-profit organizations. I guide organizations and educational institutions in the development of challenging DEI projects that aim to create a respectful and welcoming place for LGBTQ2S+ and disabled people. If you have no projects on the go, I can design one of a kind training that fits your organization and audience by using learner based methods rooted in empathy. I have worked with and within small organizations with 10 staff to large universities. I've consulted on policy, training, DEI program implementations, research and many more fun things. As a passionate facilitator, I have 8 years of experience of leading and designing hundreds of training programs addressing issues from sexual violence prevention, survivor support, disability justice, accessibility and LGBTQ2S+ inclusion and belonging, I have many skills in my toolbelt (is that a real saying?). However, my specialty is "finding the way through." My favorite achievements have been- Finishing a masters project at Queen's University: I created a capacity building tool for sexual violence prevention experts in higher education to help make prevention programming more equipped to address sexual violence faced by the trans community- Coordinating The Mapping Project, a first of its kind community based research (CBR) project at Concordia University that provided recommendations to the institution on accessibility and LGBTQ2S+ student inclusion- Authoring and Coordinating an Accessibility review of Concordia University's accessibility policy - Being the project coordinator for a advocacy hub that helps K-12 students, their teachers and guardians advocate for gender identity and gender expression rights in Ontario schools- Consulting on the very first draft on Concordia's sexual violence prevention policy - Designing the core content used in It Takes All Of Us, an online sexual violence prevent program used by several large universities.
