About Shay White

I am an enthusiastic, creative and hardworking student looking for a placement year as a mechanical engineer. As part of my course, I was involved in group projects developing CAD and novel manufacturing techniques. During the projects I was provided the opportunity to work alongside people of different backgrounds, learning to communicate effectively and delegate team roles to maximise efficiency. This proved essential as we were awarded the best design group and have been used to demonstrate to future years. From this project I discovered a passion for CAD. I took advantage of the facilities available to me and gained special access to the 3D printing workshops where I used my spare time designing my own projects for personal hobbies and bringing them to fruition. Wanting more hands-on experience, I used the machine workshop to create models made from Brass and Aluminium using a Lathe and CNC Mill I thoroughly enjoyed using the facilities and learning how to use new machines and techniques.
