About Shaye Samec

My name is Shaye Samec, and I’m a graduate from the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Kinesiology & Recreation Management. I hold a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology, and have been working in Manitoba’s Amateur Sport System since graduating in 2022! Growing up I was a multi-sport athlete, participating in many sports, such as badminton, basketball, handball, soccer, tennis, ultimate frisbee, and volleyball to name a few. I have accumulated a variety of experience working in our province’s amateur sport system. Prior to joining Hockey Manitoba, I worked for Sport Manitoba for two and a half years. I started as the Coach Education Coordinator, and was responsible for delivering the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) to the province, and acted as one of the Manitoba representatives on the Coaching Association of Canada’s PTCR. As the Projects Coordinator, I was responsible for administering various funding programs and grants to provincial sport organizations and their members. I have also accumulated multi-sport games experience. I attended the North American Indigenous Games as mission staff in 2023, and the Manitoba Summer Games as the North Regional Chef de Mission in 2024! I have a wide range of knowledge pertaining to NCCP Coaching Pathways, physical literacy development, sport development initiatives, sport funding opportunities, event management, program implementation, and more. With a passion for sport development, I look forward to continue working in Manitoba’s sport system!
