About Shayla Progar

I have been involved in childcare and education in a variety of capacities for the last twenty years. The foundation of my teaching philosophy is to encourage children to be curious, courageous, and compassionate. Together, we will explore our world, learn new things, and be fully present. I want children to know that what they think and feel matters to me, and I will endeavor to ensure that children in my care will be happy, enriched, and exposed to ideas they can explore. Drawing from Paolo Freire’s methods of problem posing and Vygotsky's emphasis on play and proximal development, I seek to elevate the agency, confidence, and self-expression of each child. I am actively continuing to grow as a prospective BCBA and endeavor to inspire children to become lifelong learners.
