About Shayne Kidd

Education is a right for every child, however, quality, empowering education transforms students’ lives. School leaders are charged with the responsibility to lead empowering education in their schools and communities and to do this, leaders need to be highly effective. Shayne Kidd is an Educational Leader who works with senior school leaders to navigate the complexities of modern education. Shayne has over 25 years of experience in education and is currently the Regional Principal Leader North, providing support and leadership for 18 Catholic school principals and their deputy principals across the North and Northwest of Tasmania. Shayne’s educational leadership includes over 10 years as principal, with experience in a range of settings including leading an Aboriginal College in the Northern Territory, urban primary schools, a small country primary school and international schools. Shayne has been the chair/president of principal’s associations both in Australia and New Zealand. Shayne is passionate about developing school leaders to excel so that they can provide the very best for their staff, students, and wider community. He is an accredited Growth Coaching International coach and as a senior leader in multiple schools across the world has coached and mentored senior school leaders for over 10 years. Shayne encourages school leaders to be reflective practitioners, who are open and receptive of both continual and instructional coaching. Using readily available tools such as the AITSL Leadership Reflection Tool or the ACER Principal Performance Improvement Tool, leaders are guided to identify areas for personal leadership growth. Then, using the GROWTH Coaching Model, Shayne guides the school leader through a Catholic lens, allowing them to take ownership of, and personally commit to, actions to achieve greater personal success. Shayne has led professional development in an international context on school middle leadership, providing effective feedback and teacher leadership. He has led Reflective Practice sessions for principals and deputy principals and multiple workshops on school leadership. Outside of education, Shayne like to participate in social sports, such as touch football and bowls and he volunteers as a Team Leader for Launceston Vinnies Van. Shayne enjoys all outdoor activities, always willing to give anything a go, he enjoys travel, especially overseas to explore and learn new cultures and in his spare time, he tends to his little farm.
