About Sheena Devasia

Worked 3 years as Lecturer in Industrial Microbiology department of H H Maharajas Govt college for women, TVM, after completing M Phil in Microbial Technology. Did PhD in Biotechnology (2005-2010) with specialization in proteins and peptides. Done the optimization, purification, characterization and application studies of laccase in the PhD tenure. Worked for few months as project associate in ISRO funded project. In 2011 July joined the R&D department of Nitta Gelatin India Ltd. Since then working on bioactive peptides for diabetes management, osteoarthritis management, skin applications etc. Worked enormously on wound care projects, chitosan related projects and in invitro cell culture techniques like angiogenesis assay and wound assays. Hands own experience in different ELISA techniques like DPP4 assay, ACE inhibition assay, T2 collagen assay, HA assay and CS assay etc to name some. Developed chitosan and gelatin nanoparticles and nanofibres by electrospinning technique. Have experience in all microbiology research techniques too. Planned and conducted trials including plant trials, planned and coordinated pre clinical and clinical studies with CROs from Sponsor's side. Worked an year as Manager (QA), NGIL. Later worked as HEAD- R&D, in Cologenesis Healthcare private limited (CHPL, Medical devices company). Currently working as Senior Research Scientist in Akay Natural Ingredients private limited.
