About Sheila Romanski

After working for other organizations for all of my adult life and having beat cancer several times, I opted to leave the security of my job and chase after the passion of my heart. Through the organization I founded, Crystal Roses, I am fulfilling that dream as we offer support to women and children with life-threatening medical conditions. I know first-hand the fears involved with a life-threatening diagnosis. I know first-hand the need for a cheer-leading team and the support of family and friends. Taking this experience, Crystal Roses, a grass roots organization was formed, that could help meet the needs of women and children who find themselves in this situation. Although we are not able to meet all of the needs of these women, we strive to stand in the gap and provide encouragement to help them get through the difficult time. Our team, which started out as a one person team, has grown to six official members who have either experienced a life-threatening illness or been a support person for someone who has. Our team continues to grow and is always looking to add experienced, compassionate volunteers to our board. The challenges of stepping outside of my comfort zone and starting this organization requires continual education and updating my knowledge in management, marketing, event planning and problem solving skills. Using the opportunities presented to me, I have gained knowledge and experience in these areas to grow our organization to be a thriving force in our local community. Through the networking associations I have worked with, we have established partnerships in the local community and the community at large.
