About Sheila Thomas

As an Educator with several years experience I do not take lightly the task that is set before me. I enjoy being a part of the transformation that education can bring forth. I am passionate about life-long learning, and empowering others. The traditional learning models that promote wholistic learning of the body, mind and soul helps me to find a balance and power in resilience. Promoting Indigenous language is vital in order to preserve the ways of knowing, stories and the values and perspectives that are required for Indigenous resurgence to begin. The Eurocentric model of education does not fit into the Indigenous worldview. Our Indigenous knowledge needs to be recognized as the foundation. There is space for Western knowledge to co-exist alongside. It is my greatest joy to be able to instill a sense of pride, be a problem solver, researcher and writer in order to analyze the current processes within the education system.
