About Shekara Grant
My name is Shekara (pronounced Shuh-Care-Ah) Grant and I am an 8th generation Black Loyalist descendant with ancestral ties to Cherry Brook and Weymouth Falls, two of over 50 historic African Nova Scotian communities. I'm an avid traveller and have visited 22 countries so far, which includes short term moves to both Australia and France. I speak both English and French, graduating from Dalhousie University in 2019 with a Combined Honours in Sociology and French, and a Certificate in Intercultural Communications. I am currently completing a Masters of Arts in Sociology at Dalhousie University. Here's a list of some projects I am currently involved in- Founder of the Weymouth Falls Community Land Trust.
