I am a Grant Writing Associate at Fairmont State University and am currently pursuing a Master of Public Health in the social and behavioral sciences at West Virginia University. My career goal is to implement evidence-based interventions in the community to address pressing public health concerns. Specifically, my interest involves the obesity epidemic and ways the environment can be shaped to help reduce this issue, such as by creating new regulations and using choice architecture to nudge people towards healthier behaviors. Because funding for public health initiatives is usually limited, I decided to hone my skills as a grant writer and have taken part in the submission of several proposals as well as being a Principal Investigator on an initiative to stock a local food pantry and run an anti-stigma campaign on food pantry usage.
