About Sheldon Buxton

I am currently employed as a Commercial Service Assistant with BFL Canada at their Edmonton Office. I process new business files, renewals, certificates of insurance, cover notes, billing and endorsements on a daily basis. I assist our Commercial Account Executives with client file management routinely. I recently graduated from the Insurance and Risk Management Diploma program at MacEwan University with a GPA of 3.9/4.0. I graduated from the program with distinction on the Dean's List and received the Intact Scholarship, Young Professional Insurance Brokers Award and the J.R. Wilkins Memorial Scholarship for my marks. I have obtained the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation. In April of 2016 I was selected for the MacEwan internship at the Kingsway AMA office. In this internship I provide quality service to 20+ customers per day in a fast paced call centre environment. I accurately and efficiently record incoming claims and communicate the claims process with insureds. I assisted claims adjusters with administering Additional Living Expense cheques to insureds during the Fort McMurray evacuation and opened reserves on individual policies. Before I started the diploma program I worked as a Peace Officer for four years with Alberta Health Services. During this time I communicated daily with the Site Administrator. I assisted with the instruction of new employees on a monthly basis. I deescalated difficult situations with patients daily using my problem solving and communication skills. I designed the officer shift pass on logs that are currently used throughout the Community and Rural division. I am a highly motivated worker with exceptional skills in problem identification, problem solving, managing complexity, and have a proven integrity and ethics. My positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills will be a valued asset with any team.
