About Shellan Meek

As of May 2020, I will have obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Health. I aspired to become a Physician Assistant practicing in geriatric or pediatric health. I look forward to enrolling in a dual Physician Assistant program that offers both an accredited NCCPA program and MPH (Masters of Public Health Degree). I come from a third world country where access to healthcare is not always readily available to the public and I would like to make a difference amongst other communities who face that plight. In the near future I am willing to travel to communities in need who lack healthcare professionals and offer my services. Being PA-C certified I can accomplish this and be able to gain more cultural knowledge of how others live across the world. I am specifically driven to help both seniors and children who face afflictions because they fall on very two important spectrums that are keys to the success of our future. Working in both a nursing home and assisted living has shaped my perspective on seniors and I have developed a passion to provide them with adequate care. Similarly, my experience as a student researcher assistant for the Child Health Institute of New Jersey has influenced me to practice in a child health setting. The younger generation represents the seeds of our future, while the older generation represents the trees. The older generation is able to provide us with the knowledge of the past and wisdom so that we can learn from our mistakes. Investing in the youth is very essential in our growth as a world because children help to shape what our tomorrow will look like.
