About Shellyn Shoenthal

Everyone has a story, and every story has purpose. Helping people and organizations map their story and drive where it will take them and the impact that it will have, is truly a privilege. I earned my stripes early in my career working for two fast-paced PR agencies, helping to build brands, increase awareness and generate revenue for some of the most recognized companies. It did not take me long to feel the gravitational pull toward work that would more directly impact my community and beyond. For the better part of two decades, I have had the opportunity to serve as the champion, fundraiser, spokesperson, communicator, volunteer coordinator (and a million other hats) for some amazing causes and organizations. From my executive leadership roles to being in the trenches with volunteers, the purpose of my story is always to find impactful ways to give light to stories that need to be told and to garner support for the greater good. While my day-to-day work with various nonprofits has common threads (bringing my grit, creativity and dedication to the table), it is never wavering in times of uncertainty and forging new paths where I stand out. My greatest accomplishments are turning organizations with tarnished reputations and deficits around; seeing the value in volunteers far beyond their kindness (i.e. turning their talents into revenue); building partnerships to utilize funding sources; and testing my own limits when I encountered leukemia (mid-career) while managing six community publications, a PR consulting business and a family while undergoing life-saving treatment. If I take pause to appreciate who I am, I am the one who despite every hurdle and roadblock, will find a way to break through and give the story an ending that matters, and give an organization wings to sore to new heights.
