About Sheree Cooks
In my role as Director of Family Engagement, I work collaboratively with families, youth, school districts, community stakeholders, and government agencies to ensure that the specific needs of Black children and families as well as other under-resourced communities are being addressed and that actionable solutions are worked towards and implemented. I promote the importance of family and community involvement in the educational process from cradle to career. I actively work to move this objective forward through various means including 1:1 work with families, advocacy efforts on local and state levels, and family engagement presentations and workshops on relevant and useful topics to families. I represent the Tacoma Urban League at educational community events, and participate in family support work groups and projects with other partner organizations. My role is ever evolving and expanding and that is something that really makes me excited because so is our world. I love to serve my community and I am grateful to call Tacoma my home.
