About Sherrell Steele

Sherrell Steele is a communications generalist with strengths in strategic planning. She has a B.Ed degree and a Master of Arts in Communications and Technology from the University of Alberta. Beginning her communications career as a broadcaster, she has subsequently broadened her portfolio to include marketing, public relations and teaching. She has been an instructor at MacEwan since first teaching in the Digital Arts and Media program and now in the Bachelor of Applied Communications in Professional Writing and in the Public Relations programs. She is currently the Manager of School of Communications with strategic role to increase the profile of the School and build relationships within the communications community. She is a past president of the Edmonton chapter of Canadian Women in Communications, a former board member of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and a member of the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS). She is a 2004 IABC Silver Leaf winner and holds two Capital Awards of Excellence and two Capital Awards of Merit from IABC. In 2011, Sherrell was named Communicator of the Year by IABC Edmonton.
