Sherrie Flick is the author of a novel, three short story collections, and an essay collection. Autumn House Press published her most recent story collection I HAVE NOT CONSIDERED CONSEQUENCES in April 2025. An essay from her debut essay collection HOMING: INSTINCTS OF A RUSTBELT FEMINIST was notable in BEST AMERCIAN ESSAYS 2023. Her awards include a 2023 Creative Development grant from The Heinz Endowments and a Writing Pittsburgh Fellowship from the Creative Nonfiction Foundation. She served as the 2025 McGee Distinguished Professor of Creative Writing at Davidson College and has joined the fiction faculty for the low-res MFA program at West Virginia Wesleyan College. Details: Sherrie Flick is the author of the novel RECONSIDERING HAPPINESS (University of Nebraska Press) and three short story collections: WHISKEY, ETC, THANK YOUR LUCKY STARS, and I HAVE NOT CONSIDERED CONSEQUENCES (all with Autumn House Press). Her fiction has been performed for NPR's SELECTED SHORTS and appears in many journals and anthologies, including W. W. Norton's NEW MICRO, FLASH FICTION FORWARD, and NEW SUDDEN FICTION. Her debut essay collection, HOMING: INSTINCTS OF A RUSTBELT FEMINIST (Univ. of Nebraska Press, 2024) was runner-up for the WCoNA Best Book of the Year Award and includes "All in the Family," a notable mention in BEST AMERICAN ESSAYS 2023. She has published nonfiction in THE WALL STREET JOURNAL, CREATIVE NONFICTION, NEW ENGLAND REVIEW, BELT MAGAZINE, and PLOUGHSHARES. She has received fellowships from the Ucross Foundation, Atlantic Center for the Arts, Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, The Creative Nonfiction Foundation, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and Sewanee Writers’ Conference. Her awards include a 2023 Creative Development Award, six PA Partners in the Arts grants, and an Arts Experience Initiative grant from The Heinz Endowments. Flick is co-editor for the 2023 Norton anthology FLASH FICTION AMERICA, senior editor at SMOKELONG QUARTERLY, and series editor for THE BEST SMALL FICTIONS 2018. She served as co-director of the Chautauqua Writers' Festival, works as an active member of Shiftworks Creative Corps in Pittsburgh, PA, is a manuscript consultant for Randolph Lundine, and teaches as a senior lecturer in the graduate program in Food Studies at Chatham University. Flick served as the 2025 McGee Distinguished Professor of Creative Writing at Davidson College and has joined the fiction faculty for the low-res MFA program at West Virginia Weslayan College.
