About Sheryl Bourgaize
I’m an Assistant Professor and Director of the STRIDE Lab at Cape Breton University, where I study how visual perception and individual characteristics influence human locomotion across the lifespan. My research combines wearable eye tracking, motion capture, accelerometry, and virtual reality to understand and improve real-world navigation and inclusive design. I’m passionate about mentorship, teaching, and community engagement. Outside of research, I coach HYROX and CrossFit and serve on committees supporting women in science and biomechanics. I’m always open to collaboration and connecting with others who share an interest in movement science, accessibility, and applied research.
