About Sheryl Roy

I am passionate about helping animals and have been working in the animal welfare industry for over ten years. I began my career in animal care in 2013 working at a high-volume veterinary hospital where I gained my animal handling experience and increased my ability to provide compassion and understanding with the general public. After joining a well-known rescue group in my community in 2015, I gained a plethora of knowledge and skills that allowed me to build my experience handling all types of different animals with various backgrounds and behaviors. I also explored other avenues in animal care and worked for a few different boarding facilities in 2016 and 2020 where I zeroed in on my customer service and animal care skills. In 2021, I began my own pet-sitting business and have successfully built lasting relationships with my clients and their pets. I decided to get back into animal rescue in 2023 and accepted a position at a high intake animal shelter focusing primarily on adoptions and canine care. In 2024, I decided I wanted a change of scenery and accepted a different role at a very reputable local animal shelter in their admissions department working more closely with the community and providing resources and assistance to those who need it. I have demonstrated my abilities to supervise and work as a team in most of my roles. My experiences working with animals has given me the confidence to handle many different species from all walks of life. The relationships I have built with coworkers, managers, volunteers, customers and animals have proven to me that this career path I have chosen is the right one for me. I'm always learning new things and expanding my skillset to be the best that I can be for the voiceless.
