About Shintaro Shinguchi

Currently, I serve as a Country Officer at the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), specializing in information analysis, project formulation, and coordination with stakeholders like the Japanese Government, Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA), and international donors, all focused on strengthening peacebuilding initiatives in Mindanao. Prior to joining JICA in August 2022, I dedicated 2.5 years at World Vision Japan as a Program Coordinator, spearheading awareness-raising and prevention efforts against gender-based violence (GBV) amongst Rohingya refugees. My diverse experience also includes roles as an Assistant Administrator at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) Hiroshima Office and a Grant Consultant at the Embassy of Japan in Cambodia. Driven by a deep commitment to social justice, I leverage my Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from Waseda University (Japan) and Master of Science in Global Cooperation and Security from the University of Birmingham (UK) to navigate complex development challenges. Beyond professional pursuits, I find balance and joy in playing tennis and exploring the world of music through the piano.
