About Shinya Maenosono

Dr. Shinya Maenosono is Professor in School of Materials Science, Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST). He received his BS and PhD from the University of Tokyo. He has experience in teaching and research in nanomaterials science and technology at the University of Tokyo as assistant professor and at JAIST as associate professor and professor. His expertise covers inorganic materials chemistry, nanomaterials chemistry, colloid chemistry and solid state chemistry. In addition, he has industrial experience at Mitsubishi Chemical Corp. and Fujifilm Co, Ltd. Professor Maenosono’s research has focused on two main areas of interest in the field of materials chemistry and nanotechnology. The first area involved wet chemical synthesis of semiconductor nanoparticles with controlled size, shape and composition for energy-conversion device applications. The second area has focused on the synthesis and biological application development of heterostructured and/or alloyed multimetallic nanoparticles.
