About Shirley Long

I wear many hats. I am a scientific storyteller, designer, medical illustrator, and 3D generalist. I specialize in leading biomedical communication projects that translate complex science into clear & moving digital products. I'm passionate about design-driven visuals, and love to ponder how we can continually improve scientific education with multimedia such that science becomes more engaging to students and healthcare information more accessible to patients. My background is in medical sciences and academia/research analysis; in combination with my skills in visual arts and design, I bring scientific literacy and a passion for education into all my projects. I completed my Master of Science (MSc) in Biomedical Communications at the Institute of Medical Science at the University of Toronto, where I collaborated with professionals in hospitals and research institutions to create biomedical media. I aspire to make STEM as fascinating for audiences as it is for me. I'm always working on new projects and looking for new collaborators; let's connect and share ideas!
