About Shirley Yang

I have participated in three micro-internships led by the University of Auckland. In different corporate contexts, my team members and I have completed final reports and presentations under difficult situations, for example, the group members withdrawals and not enough experience. The content of these three internships was set up in completely different fields, so with a good efforts and adaptability, I wrote a work report based on the corporate background and culture within three weeks, as well as conducted good group cooperation. On one occasion, I served as the team leader and took the lead in assigning tasks, modification and submitting the final report. Within a month of completing my studies, I returned to China to join a new, forward-thinking carbon neutral company engaged in park carbon neutral theme park education, waste recycling and zero carbon catering. My colleagues and I focus on carbon neutral theme park, contributing to park waste management, recycling programs and pollutant treatment in a carbon-neutral park system. And promoting carbon neutral educational content. In company's short-term development, I researched and connected with key target groups of current stakeholders.Our efforts include activities such as composting, container farming, and integrated photovoltaic glass installations. These activities under construction can already achieve low-carbon popularization for 60-100 residents every day. In the long term, this work can become a sustainable system that will enables the transition from environmental education to pro-environmental behaviour. and also, could help the other companies’ sustainability report needs in the future.Now, I am trying to enter a new industry, hoping to bring my knowledge and skills into the field of construction.
