About Shourjo Chatterjee

I have worked as a civil servant and member of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IA & AS) since September 2001. I have a PhD in the accountability of development cooperation projects by Supreme Audit Institutions. I hold a Master of Business Administration (Finance) besides being trained as a public sector auditor for two years by the Government of India as part of my professional induction training to the IA & AS. I am a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). I also hold a Prince 2 Foundation Certificate in project management. I am experienced in accountability, monitoring and control working in different responsibilities with the Supreme Audit Institution of India. Working with the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI), Oslo- a Norwegian non-governmental foundation involved in development cooperation in the field of public sector auditing, I have developed considerable experience in corporate governance and strategic management. I am currently in my second stint with the IDI, Oslo as a Manager in its Strategic Support Unit. In my previous stint there, I have worked with similar responsibilities as Strategy and Knowledge Manager. I am responsible for strategic planning, operational planning, development and monitoring of results framework with performance indicators, reporting, enterprise risk management, developing organisational policies, control mechanisms and stakeholder relations. I have managed capacity development programs on fighting corruption and bilateral support to develop the audit capacity of Supreme Audit Institutions of Afghanistan and Somalia. Upon entrustment by the United Nations Panel of External Auditors, I have conducted external audits of UNOPS, WHO and WMU. My last assignment with the Government of India was as the Principal Director of Audit heading the independent office for auditing the Indian Air Force. Prior to that, I served as Accountant General in the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir, again heading an independent office in the state. Prior to that, I had varied experience in the middle management level of the Supreme Audit Institution of India in its headquarters and field offices. I have managed the audit functions of Revenue Audit of Direct Taxes of the Government of India, contract audits of the Indian Air Force and other audits including IT Audits of civil departments of the government. In course of these responsibilities, I have managed the entire gamut of audit functions from audit planning, conducting audits, reporting and following up on the audit reports.
