About Shruti Badhwar

I'm a technical leader, founder, and AI/ML practitioner with 10+ years of experience turning research into products with real-world impact.I hold a PhD in Semiconductor Physics from the University of Cambridge, where work on graphene devices and terahertz quantum cascade lasers taught me to combine scientific rigor with practical problem-solving. Since then, I've built at the intersection of AI, science, and human-centered technology across research labs, startups, and frontier technology environments. At IBM Research, I improved facial recognition accuracy by 14% for underrepresented groups — building the system from scratch, including data collection, cloud infrastructure, and CV algorithms. At Google X, I developed ML pipelines processing RGB and hyperspectral data for early-stage moonshot projects, collaborating across hardware, software, and domain expert teams. As a repeat founder, I've co-founded three technology companies. At Commerce.AI, I built NLP systems to help enterprises understand customer feedback at scale. At Embody, I led R&D through production on ML-based spatial audio products that scaled to users. Most recently at Reincarnate, I built multi-agent AI systems for scientific R&D — combining LLMs, deterministic ML, knowledge graphs, and retrieval — accelerating workflows by up to 750x for Fortune 500 semiconductor and materials clients. Alongside the technical work, I developed financial models, go-to-market strategy, and investor materials, and led the full arc from product concept to paid pilots.Across all of it, I've led technical roadmaps, hired and mentored teams, and taken systems from whiteboard to deployment. I've contributed to 16+ publications and patents, and open-sourced the scientific agent platform I built. The problems that interest me most sit at the intersection of AI and hard sciences. I bring technical depth, the strategic and financial range to lead at the business level, and a track record of building from zero to production. Always interested in connecting with people working on these problems.
