About Shukan Patel

Shukan Patel is an Associate at Aleshire & Wynder. He works on cases representing public agencies in appellate proceedings before the California Courts of Appeal, litigating such cases in the areas of land use, housing, and tax law. He helped litigate the case of City of Redondo Beach, et al. v. Rob Bonta, et al, which held Senate Bill 9 to be unconstitutional. Shukan has also filed a Petition for Review on behalf of a public agency to the California Supreme Court and an Amicus Brief to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He currently serves as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Cerritos, Assistant Special Counsel for the San Diego Housing Commission, and Assistant General Counsel for the Housing Authority of the County of San Bernardino. Shukan earned his J.D. from UCLA School of Law, where he was awarded the Masin Family Academic Excellence Gold Award for earning the highest grade in Local Government Law. While attending law school, Shukan gained broad legal experience by serving as a judicial extern for the Hon. John Kronstadt in the United States District Court for the Central District of California and as a Managing Editor for UCLA Law Review. Shukan earned his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, with minors in Asian Languages and Public Affairs, summa cum laude and with College Honors from UCLA.
