About Sicelo Xulu

Experienced Managing Director/CEO with a demonstrable history of working in the electricity supply industry (ESI). Mr Sicelo Xulu is a professional Engineering Technologist, registered with the ECSA and has over 20 years of engineering experience. He joined Eskom in 1994 and worked his way up to Senior Technologist working as a Maintenance Management Specialist. In 2002 Mr. Xulu joined City Power as a Transmission Senior Engineer, held various Senior Executive positions including the position of Managing Director. Sicelo has gained extensive knowledge within the Electricity Distribution Industry which includes the following, Engineering Management, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Programme and Project Management and Customer Services. Mr. Xulu’s educational background includes a B. Tech in Electrical Engineering from Central University of Technology; a BSc Honours: University of Pretoria, a Master Of Philosophy (Mphil) in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (Cumlaude) with University of Johannesburg, Accelerated Directorship Programme with IoDSA, Executive Development Programme and Municipal Finance Management Programme with Wits Business School. He holds a Fellow membership with SAIEE and with IoDSA, and has recently retired from serving on the following boards: SANEA; Industry Advisory Committee for Electrical Engineering at University of Johannesburg, and CENTLEC (SOC). Mr Xulu is a recipient of the 2006 Young Achievers Award from SAIEE, he holds a Corporate Leadership Certificate by MUT (Mangosuthu University of Technology), he has been honored by the MUT at the graduation ceremony for the Faculty of Engineering, and is the 2015 African Utility Executive of the Year Winner – for Africa Utility Week Industry Awards. Mr Xulu has been the South African representative of Systems Evaluations Group for Smart Cities for IEC and the President of AMEU in Southern Africa from 2014 to 2016
