About Sidney Amsalem

I love to build things. I study Computer Science at Vanderbilt University, and I’m currently on a gap year working as a Software Engineer at a start up, learning how real systems are built, maintained, and scaled. My principles as an engineer: • Surround yourself with great people. Give back to them by teaching, listening, and showing up fully. • Good design is clear. Code should read easily, not like a puzzle. • Systems are about people, so they should be built around them, not the other way around. A few things you may find interesting: • I founded and ran an e-commerce watch business from my dorm room, bringing in $140k+ of revenue. • I’ve powerlifted competitively, rowed for 3 years in college, and ran a marathon (with more planned) With one semester left, I’ll be graduating in May 2026. I’m excited to learn from great engineers, keep sharpening my skills, and continue building systems. And here are some buzzwords that I associate with: AWS · S3 · EC2 · RDS · Lambda · API Gateway · AppFlow · EventBridge · CloudWatch · Textract · DocumentDB · Docker · SQL Server · PostgreSQL · MongoDB · Redis · ETL Pipelines · Node.js · Express · React · TailwindCSS · TypeScript · JavaScript · C++ · Python · Git · Bitbucket · CI/CD Pipelines · PowerShell · OCR · Salesforce SOQL · Data Visualization · BI Dashboards · Model Context Protocol (MCP) · AI-powered automation · Large Language Models (LLMs) · Prompt Engineering · JSON Schema Extraction
